Our 2026 goal
$10,000 - 20 kids
** In 2025 we fully funded 17 youth attending camps! **
Our goal in 2026 is to raise $10,000 to fully sponsor 20 vulnerable youth - giving them the chance to move from the waiting list to the wilderness and an unforgettable outdoor experience. We don’t know just how far this could go, but we’re willing to begin — and helping 20 kids discover the outdoors feels like no small thing.
Just $40/month will fully sponsor one youth attending a two month outdoor program.

Why we are doing this
One in four kids in our communities miss out on the incredible, life-changing experiences that nature offers - what we all grew up with. We want to change that.
With a shared love of the outdoors, we are fulfilling a dream to provide kids with access to the best learning experience - the outdoor classroom.

100% of funds raised go to pay for vulnerable kids in outdoor programs. Our preferred programs also teach skills like hiking, climbing, biking.

No Small Thing supports local programs that provide fully sponsored hiking, biking, snowboard, and climbing programs for vulnerable youth 11-18 in the Okanagan valley.

We believe every kid - no matter what their circumstances - benefits from outdoor experiences where they can learn physical skills while they expand their outlook on life.

Our decision builds on a legacy of working with youth that started with Hugh’s brother Dan. After we lost Dan (after summiting Everest he set his sights on K2, the second highest peak and died on the descent) family and friends created a week-long camp for youth that combined leadership skills with a sea kayaking adventure. Decades later, we still meet kids who were impacted by those experiences.
Fast forward some 30 years and we’ve rekindled that flame with a focus on supporting kids who, for a number of reasons, will most benefit from mentorship and skill-development in the outdoor classroom.
